A historic collaboration: October 26, 2019The Dominican Republic Society of Occupational Therapy (SODTEO) has invited the Haitian Association of OT (AHE-HAOT) to join them in a professional conference in honor of the International Day of OT! The worldwide celebration of the OT profession is officially Sunday, Oct. 27, but the conference is planned for Saturday, Oct. 26th in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
This collaboration is significant because the two nations have political differences. However, Occupational Therapists around the world share professional practices and moral principles that make us eager to collaborate. The HAOT has nominated one member of the association, senior FSRL OT student Stephyole Edmond, to travel to Santiago to give a presentation on Early Intervention as it is understood in Haiti. The HAOT has sponsored the cost of Stephyole’s Visa from our membership fees. The association is seeking donations to help fund the remained of the fees for Stephyole’s presentation. If you are interested in donating to this worthwhile cause, please contact Janet Flynn at dean@haitirehab.org.
