Help us Create a bond between Haiti and DR
An Historic Collaboration
The Dominican Republic Society of Occupational Therapy (SODTEO) has invited
the Haitian Association of OT (AHE-HAOT) to join them in a professional conference in honor
of the International Day of OT! The day is officially Sunday, Oct. 27, but the conference is
planned for Saturday, Oct. 26. It will take place in Santiago, DR.
This collaboration is significant because the two nations have political differences.
However, Occupational Therapists around the world share professional practices and
moral principles in common that make us eager to collaborate.
AHE-HAOT has nominated one member, senior OT student Stephyole Edmond,
to travel to Santiago to give a presentation on Early Intervention as it is
understood in Haiti. We have sponsored the cost of Stephyole’s visa, $300,
from our membership fees. We now need a little more to pay for the round-trip
bus fare, for the conference fee, and for daily expenses for the three days this will
require.
